Tile Tool Shop is proud to distribute the LASH system by QEP. The system was originally invented by tile contractors for the purpose of decreasing installation time and increasing quality. Whether you are setting rectified porcelain floors, granite tile countertops, or ceramic shower walls, the LASH system will allow you to have narrow grout joints with virtually no lippage every time. The days of arriving at the jobsite to grout and finding several tiles or inserts have become unlevel overnight are over!
The LASH system is one of the newest, most innovative tile installation aids on the market. Virtually eliminate lippage, decrease call backs, speed up installation time, and increase overall quality. Click to the right to watch a short video showing the many benefits of LASH, including how simple it is to use!
LASH is a two-part system composed of a clip and wedge (each sold separately) designed for tiles ranging from 1/4" to7/16" in thickness. After spreading the setting material according to manufacturer’s directions, the first tile is set. A clip is then placed approximately 2" from each end of the tile. A minimum of two clips are necessary per side. Tile Tool Shop recommends 2 (two) per side on tiles up to 20" x 20". From that size and larger, it is suggested to use a minimum of 3 (three) per side. Next, the adjacent tile is set. The wedge is then pushed through the hole at the top of the clip, pushing it as tight as possible. Check for the alignment of the grout joints and move on to the next tile. No special tools are required!
The final step to the LASH system is after the setting material has dried. Simply kick the clip in the same direction as the grout joint and it will break off at the base. The days of getting on your hands and knees to remove spacers are over! Go through and pick up all of the wedges, which are reusable several times. Their yellow color allows them to be easily located. For your next project, you will only need to purchase more clips. Also, it is important to remember that it is not necessary to buy more wedges than you or your crew would use in a single day. For example, you may only buy 400 wedges for a job that requires 1,000 clips for a project knowing it may take a few days to complete all of the work.
